2016 - November, Latest news
Thanks to a Diwali fundraiser at asra Housing Group, almost £2,000 has been raised for Action Homeless, a Leicestershire-based charity.
Employees of the provider of nearly 15,000 homes in the Midlands and London, celebrated the Hindu festival of lights with fireworks, a traditional dress code and entertainment from two local Punjabi and Bollywood style dance troupes.
The top raffle prize, Premiership tickets, raised nearly £500 and were provided by Freddie Osei-Bempong, Associate Director at Barclays Corporate. The amount was matched by Barclays as part of their colleague programme, bringing the total to almost £1,000.
Other raffle items, including vouchers for Apple and M&S, two large TVs and more football tickets, were provided by sponsors and partners who have worked with asra in the last year, raising an additional £967.
Action Homeless do important work in our community, helping to break the cycle of homelessness. We hope the money raised will help them to continue this mission. A big thank you goes to our partners and Mr Osei-Bempong for his generosity in providing this top-ticket item, and for everyone at asra for taking part.Matt Cooney (Group Chief Executive)
