asra Housing Group has appointed two new directors as it looks to further strengthen its development activity and continue the implementation of its new operating model.
Simon Hatchman has joined the affordable housing provider, which has some 14,000 homes across the Midlands and London, in the role of Executive Director – Resources.
Simon has overall responsibility for the financial and development functions of the business, incorporating financial planning, treasury, transaction processing, payroll, development schemes identification and delivery, and property sales. He joins asra from Acis Group where, as financial director, he led the association’s £80m loan refinance deal.
Simon’s 21 year housing career also includes roles at Metropolitan Housing, Cross Keys Homes, the Housing Corporation and at a specialist provider of bond finance.
He said: “I feel privileged to hold this position, as asra has such an interesting history and an exciting future ahead. During my tenure I would like to further improve the finance function, making it even more efficient and delivering strong decision support to the business.
“I see my role as making sure asra has a story to tell, cementing our reputation as a trusted partner to local authorities and other stakeholders by strong management of our finances.”
Also joining the asra team is Michael Rourke, development director. Michael is tasked with overseeing asra’s £900m development programme, which will see it build some 700 homes by March 2018.
The qualified chartered building surveyor brings to the team 30 years of development experience, most recently as construction manager at Viridian Housing where he delivered a £90m build programme.
Michael said: “I’m keen to oversee asra’s strong, ambitious development programme. I’m looking forward to delivering good quality, affordable housing that embraces new technology and modern construction so that asra is recognised as one of the best registered providers by the development sector.”
Matt Cooney, group chief executive at asra, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Michael and Simon to the asra team. Both bring to the table a wealth of experience in their respective sectors. In particular the appointments further strengthen our commercial nous and ability to capitalise on development opportunities across our wide geography.
“Our corporate plan and new operating model launched earlier this year and Michael and Simon are both well placed to help us achieve our ambitious objectives and change programme.”
